　米国のテレビ・ドキュメンタリーなどを手がけてきたカナダ人のクリス・シェリダンさん（３７）と妻のパティ・キムさん（３６）が共同で監督、制作にあたった。韓国系のキムさんが２００２年に拉致事件の記事をワシントン・ポスト紙で読んで驚いたのがきっかけという。
