毎日新聞社説 社説：民主代表選 「普天間」問題 危険除去の具体策示せ - 毎日ｊｐ(毎日新聞)

　普天間は民主党代表選の論点の一つである。小沢一郎前幹事長は、日米合意を尊重しつつ、沖縄、米政府と打開策を話し合うと主張する。ただ、自らの案はないと言う。「話し合い」に重点を置き、その結果しだいでは「県外・国外」移設も排除しない考えのように受け取れる。
　話し合いは当然だが、沖縄と米国の合意が得られなければ普天間は存続することになる。その場合、周辺住民の危険性除去にどう取り組むのか。具体的に語ってほしい。

Reinforcing close relations with the United States is also important. Mr. Kan has promised to move forward with a long-debated plan to relocate an American Air Force base on Okinawa. Mr. Ozawa wants to reopen negotiations ― yet again. He needs to reconsider that unrealistic position because he admits he has no alternative proposals and the Americans are certain to balk.
