サマーズがＡＩＧの高額ボーナスを「OUTRAGEOUS」と言ったという。ＮＨＫでは「言語道断」と訳していた。考えてみたけれど、他に適当な訳がない。なんで中国語なのか。ちょっと悲しくなった。
　漢字熟語抜きでは日本語では抽象的な表現は出来ないのだと実感。

　若い子なら、「ありえない！」とか言うかな。「トンデモ」はちと違うか。
　outrageousの語感は多少微妙なところがある。

　他、手元のCobuildを見ると、unacceptableの語感がある。
　しかし、訳語的には言語道断でしょうね。
　ところで、「杞憂」や「言語道断」も読めない日本人は増えている可能性もあるかもと。
