The U.S. agriculture secretary said there are no plans to stop importing Canadian beef after the country detected another case of mad cow.

Dr. Brian Evans, Canada's chief veterinary officer, said a 6-year-old cow at an Alberta farm tested positive for the nerve disease. Evans said the animal never entered the food chain.

約６歳と老齢の牛で、日本の輸入対象（生後２０カ月以下）にはあたらないが、米国産牛肉の再禁輸と合わせ、北米産牛肉への不安が高まる可能性がある。
　カナダ食品検査局によると、西部アルバータ州で育った牛で、飼料を通じて感染したとみられる。米農務省は、「生後３０カ月まで」の米国の輸入基準に触れないため「現在の輸入に影響しない」と表明した。
