軍部の介入を避けるようにエジプトが政治手法が取れるようにオバマ政権が支援せよということ。
だが、実態は逆で、オバマ政権は実は暗黙にモルシ排除を結果的に是認している。

クーデターを起こしたエジプト軍部への支援をやめよ。
THERE IS no ambiguity about what happened in Egypt on Wednesday: a military coup against a democratically elected government and the wrong response to the country’s problems.
クーデター以外のなにものでもない、と。
しかし、これは2年半前のムバラクのときも実際は同じだった。
Had the armed forces not intervened, democracy probably would have led to the defeat within months of the Muslim Brotherhood in legislative elections. If it does not provoke the eruption of violent conflict, this coup may well ensure that Islamist forces, including more radical groups, grow stronger. The United States must focus on preventing the worst outcomes in a vital Arab ally, including civil war or a new dictatorship. That means dropping its passivity and using the leverage of aid to insist on a democratic transition.
放置すれば同胞団に屈することになっただろうが、クーデターで解決できる問題ではない。民主勢力を支援しよう、と。
まあ、暢気なことをWPは言っている。問題は経済ですよ。

軍はモルシを排除したのではなく民主主義を排除したのだ、と。
これがまともなリベラルの感覚だと思う。
メモ
WP、FT、Guardianともにエジプトのクーデターについては似たような論調。ただし、経済の主眼が置かれていない。
メモをとりながら思ったが、WPの米国内向けの社説は省略してよさそうだ。
