NYT McDonald's Plans Slowed by New Chief's Surgery

McDonald's moved swiftly to name a chief executive when James R. Cantalupo died of a heart attack on April 19. But relief over the quick appointment of Charles H. Bell was followed by concern a short time later over the news that he had colorectal cancer.
Mr. Bell, 43, was given his diagnosis on May 3, two weeks after Mr. Cantalupo's death, people close to the company said. Doctors performed what they termed successful surgery on Mr. Bell two days later and expect him to have a brief recovery period. In a statement yesterday, Mr. Bell said he was "recovering nicely."

 洒落みたいだが、43歳で結腸直腸癌というのも、そう不思議なことではないだろう。
